Abstract

P185 DETECTING AND PROCESSING AVO POLARITY REVERSALS T. POKROVSKAIA F. ADLER and P. HARRIS Summary 1 The detection of subtle class I and II AVO features (Rutherford and Williams 1989) rather than classical bright spots is becoming increasingly important in hydrocarbon exploration. However seismic data with AVO effects such as polarity reversals can be difficult to process and analyse. We present a methodology for robust class I and II AVO processing which includes two interlinked components. Firstly we show a new method of velocity analysis which detects residual moveout errors caused by polarity changes versus offset and provides accurate velocities
