Abstract

The corrosion resistance of stainless steel is dependent on a hard, tough, chromium oxide film that is selfrepairing<br>under oxidizing conditions. This oxide film is not self-repairing in reducing or neutral conditions. If the<br>film is disturbed, corrosion will result.
