Abstract

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) operates a fuels refinery at Mumbai. BPCL refinery was commissioned in<br>1955 by the then Burma Shell Refineries Limited, with a design capacity to process 2.2 million metric tones per annum<br>(MMTPA) of crude oil. Currently, refinery has a crude processing capacity of 12.0 MMTPA and can process various types of<br>indigenous and imported crudes.One of the most vital issues for BPCL has been the concern for the conservation of<br>environment.
