Abstract

Geoelectrical methods were used to define depth of the weathering mantle and topography of the basal surface in each of the four step-like topographical levels recognized in the Campos de Jordão Plateu between Morro do Itapeva and Vila Capivari, São Paulo state, Brazil. After the geophysical survey, drillings were carried out aimed at comparing the results and to sample the weathering profile material. Despite the initial apparent discrepancy between the SEVs and drillings results, it was possible to calibrate the interpretation of the geoelectrical results and to define the togography of the basal weathering surface (bedrock surface) in the different compartments.
