2D Finite Difference Electromagnetic Modeling of Krishna – Godavari Basin, East Coast of India

The layered sedimentary rocks in Krishna-Godavari Basin on the east coast of India lying between high velocity basalts on the top and undulating granite basement at a depth produce poor seismic reflections. In view of this, 2D magnetotelluric modeling with Microsoft.Net (C#) Graphic Interface has been carried out to examine the response pattern, resolution of different subsurface layers and estimation of their thicknesses as a means to supplement and improve the seismic results.
