Abstract
The founder of the Russian school of direct interpretation of potential fields (without a priori geological-geophysical information) is V.M. Beriozkin, who derived the operator of total normalised gradient (TNG) GH. This operator was successfully applied for the searches of hydrocarbon reservoirs. The further development of this direction of the interpretation has allowed to resolve also various structural problems using mathematical proven criteria for transition from extremes of TNG fields to co-ordinates of sources of anomaly – the quasi-singular points method (QSP). Its capability for deep researches was established. One of the most difficult objectives, which was successfully achieved, is tracing of the Moho discontinuity, using only the Bouguer anomaly along the profile. It is approved with the help of an example of a regional profile intersecting the European part of Russia. In its central part it coincides with the results of a deep seismic profile.
