Abstract
A-31 BEST SLOWNESS DETERMINATION FROM SONIC WAVEFORMS ALAIN BRIE TAKESHI ENDO HENRI-PIERRE VALERO Abstract Accurate compressional and shear slownesses along the whole well are needed to optimize the interpretation of surface seismic data especially AVO interpretation. The most reliable acquisition technique for sonic measurements is to use an array of receivers and to process the waveforms with a semblance technique to obtain the slownesses. However there are some limitations; in particular setting of the processing parameters is nontrivial errors in labeling of the semblance peaks often require manual editing and the available quality control features are cumbersome. Consequently the user
