Abstract

B-30 NORTH SEA CHALK POROSITY RESOLVED BY INTEGRATION OF SEISMIC REFLECTIVITY AND WELL LOG DATA Abstract A regional study of the Upper Cretaceous – Danian chalk in the Central North Sea based on 2D seismic- and log- data revealed that: • Simplified carbonate porosity units can be resolved in the wells based on gamma ray and sonic logs (GR/DT-logs). • It is possible qualitatively to define areas of porous and tight chalk based on seismic reflectivity. In order to achieve the integration of the seismic and log data to elucidate the reservoir geology of the chalk a simple log-derived GR/DT-lithology
