P-7 ELASTIC WAVE ATTENUATION IN TRANSVERSELY ISOTROPIC MEDIA CAUSED BY THE PRESENCE OF ALIGNED SATURATED FRACTURES ELENA KAZATCHENKO Instituto Mexicano del Petróleo Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas 152 07730 México D.F. Mexico Abstract 1 A model of a poroelastic medium with a fracture system has been developed. This model is based on Thomsen's theory for weak anisotropy including anisotropy of permeability. The theory is applied to elastic wave propagation at the asymptotic limit of long wavelengths. The model contains a porous homogeneous and isotropic matrix and a system of aligned fractures which have a penny-shaped form. So the composite model presents
