Abstract

We present a Kirchhoff-type prestack time migration using
the concept of Gaussian Beams (GB’s). The approach
considers the superposition of paraxial amplitudes in the
vicinity of every trace location in a common-offset section,
mapped through the determination of the Fresnel volume
elements of the seismic experiment. These amplitudes
are the stacked and smeared by the use of a GB
operator, which is a high-frequency representation of the
seismic wavefield, prior to being migrated to its true
position in the time domain.
