Abstract

The Barents-Kara Region (BKR) has a compound structure, with a thick sedimentary cover, a heterogeneous basement and is complicated by rift structures. The specific tectonic structure of the BKR is mainly associated with repeated rifting. Therefore, the major objective was to study the topography and physical parameters of the granite-gneissic metamorphic complex and to determinate the age and composition of synrift complexes. The purpose of this article is to illustrate the special features of the deep structure of the Barents-Kara Region from recent deep seismic investigations and gravity/magnetic data along geotraverses 1-AR, 2-AR and 3-AR.
