Some Problems with Application of AVO Techniques to Seismic Data from West Siberia

The results of testing of the examined agents affecting determination of the AVO-attributes suggest that the problem of reservoir properties prediction for West Siberian thin-layered reservoirs for the moment has no practical solution. Beside the above mentioned difficulties, one should consider the problem of completeness and reliability of the well-log data required for high-quality modeling and calibration of the AVO-analysis and inversion results. Another problem is optimization of shooting schemes for achieving required signal-to-noise level. All the above mentioned makes questionable the profitability of the efficient use of the AVO-analysis. It is important to determine quantitative criteria for the processing quality control, allowing correct determination of the AVO attributes.
