Resistivity Method for Examination of the Urban Underground Utilities

The asphalt coat and the high level electrical noise eliminate application of the resistivity method and conventional instrumentation under the urban conditions. The originally developed electrometric system “ERA” and the measurement technique for electrically isolating road coat permit to overcome a number of problems associated with application of the resitivity method for municipal service. The proposed innovative technology is an adequate competitor to the widely used ground penetrating radar technology. Some examples of examination of water supply pipelines are presented in this paper.
