Abstract
An underground alcove, Alcove L-3, at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in SE New Mexico, is part of a brine inflow investigation. The first indication of brine inflow was noted through the drilling of boreholes in the invert. Initial determinations of the extent of the brine inflow was accomplished through a modified mise-a-la-masse survey. Corrections were applied to account for the underground geometry. Modelling was also performed to study the sensitivity of the survey to its structural surroundings, such as neighboring alcoves and connecting driftways.
