Abstract

This report deals with monitoring of particle vibration due to explosions. The field work was undertaken during the 3-D seismic survey at CEXIS oil field in the Recˆoncavo Basin, finished last year. The aime was to avoid damage to houses, power lines and so one, and determining the charge amount as a function of safety distance to the engineering facilities nearby the seismic lines. In the monitoring operation was used a 24-channel seismograph, the ABEM Terraloc Mark3 System and triaxial geophones, in a joint project involving PETROBRAS, CEPED and UFBA. The results are (i) usefull mathematical formulas relating charge amount, safety distance and the velocity of vibrations, which are suitable for the specific geological and soil conditions, and (ii) a field procedure that permits simultaneously to monitor different targets.
