Abstract
Curie point represents a temperature above which a material loses its magnetic properties. The Interpreted Curie Surface is an attempt to map a surface within the Earth’s crust whose depth represents a limit bellow which the above behavior happens with geologic magnetic material (chiefly magnetite). Therefore the variations in this depth may give a rough idea of the closeness of hot features (mainly the mantle) from the Earth’s surface. Two sets of maps at a millionth and 1:2500000 scales were generated for the integrated and homogenized magnetic airborne data made available by Petrobrás, covering both the continental (almost 75%) and offshore areas of the Brazil. These products are available as printed maps or as digital files in CD-ROM with the Agência para o Desenvolvimento Tecnológico da Indústria Mineral Brasileira - ADIMB, Brasília, DF, Brazil.
