In order to characterize a VTI anisotropic<br>medium, a CRS (controlled random search)<br>inversion algorithm was implemented to invert the<br>nonhyperbolic moveout of the traveltime<br>reflection time. The conducted numerical study<br>evaluates the influence of the data acquisition<br>array upon the uncertainties for the model<br>parameter estimates. As a result, optimal data<br>acquisition parameters are determined such as the<br>corresponding estimates for the NMO velocity and<br>the anisotropic parameter are estimated with a<br>minimum uncertainty.
