Abstract
The spectral induced polarization – SIP designate a
variety of methods which look beyond the familiar
resistivity and chargeability as measured in induced
polarization surveys, that analysis electrical survey
data at a number of frequencies or delay times. A set
of quantities which characterize the information
gained. The Cole-Cole impedance model is adopted
for the study of the spectral IP effect’s on timedomain
measurements. The spectral induced
polarization applied to near Igarapé Bahia gold mine
exploration, makes possible, the detailed analysis of
areas, pre-selected by induced polarization surveys,
using gradient array. It has been useful for modeling
and understanding chargeability anomalies in Breves
deposit. Enable us to identify different types of
anomalies, distinguishing disseminated sulfide
concentrations related anomalies, from those related
to membrane polarization effect, related to rocks
composed dominantly by clay minerals, with
carbonaceous material and manganese. The
contribution of spectral induced polarization survey,
carried out by CVRD and LPGA, comprises drilling
optimization and exploration costs reduction. This
paper presents as results, the characterization of
Breves deposit. Cole-Cole analysis parameters
signature, characterized by disseminated sulfide
concentrations related to medium chargeability (m)
and Tau (t) values, while high chargeability (m) and
Tau (t) values, are relate to rocks with high contents
of clay minerals, with manganese and carbonaceous material.
