Abstract

The post-rift Cretaceous sequences of the Bredasdorp Basin, offshore South Africa, have been rigorously analyzed using the unified application of the latest seismic-stratigraphic, sequence-stratigraphic and depositional systems concepts. Utilizing 101 seismic profiles, totalling 5600km, 10 cyclic depositional sequences have been identified bounded by 9 Type 1 and 2 Type 2 unconformities.
