Abstract

We present an algorithm developed for layered-earth inversion of data acquired using an inline horizontal electric dipole (HED) marine CSEM survey method. The inverse problem is solved using the Tikhonov derivative-regularization and the singular value decomposition method. The iterative scheme starts with a half-space resistivity model and finds the smoothest model that fits the data to 1 rms error. The inversion takes into account data errors, any available a priori information about subsurface structure, nonlinearity of the forward problem, and solution non-uniqueness thus providing a reliable constrained inversion model . Application to synthetic data is presented and a field example is discussed.
