Abstract

The joint study of the upper atmosphere in the Brazilian geomagnetic anomaly region was planned by the University of Santa Maria, INPE and National Institute of Polar Research, Takushoku University, Communications Research Laboratory and several other institutes of Japan. Our major concern is the atmospheric changes which could be caused by energetic particles precipitating from the inner radiation belt due to lower mirror height in the anomalously weak geomagnetic region.
