D006 ELASTIC IMPEDANCE INVERSION IN THE WESTERN NILE DELTA A CASE STUDY 1 SUMMARY In 2003 Apache Egypt Companies along with partners RWE Dea and BP Egypt embarked on a largescale pre-stack seismic inversion project in the West Mediterranean concession located in the offshore deep water Nile Delta. To date five successful wells (four new field discoveries and one appraisal) have been drilled in water depths ranging from 2300 to 3500 feet. The commercial objectives are gas bearing sandstones deposited in Pliocene age levee–channel fan complexes draped over structural highs forming combination structural-stratigraphic traps.
