Abstract

G024 Modelling seismic response from North Sea chalk reservoirs Abstract 1 Good correspondence between forward synthetic models and seismic field data from Danish North Sea Chalk reservoirs show that oil content may be detected in seismic data. We create forward synthetic seismic models by simulating realistic changes in degree of compaction and hydrocarbon saturation according to depth variations away from a well bore. The most pronounced fluid effect is seen in poisson ratio sections but also impedance data and even reflection seismic data may display oil – water contacts under ideal conditions. Modelling tools O.
