Abstract

P001 A PRACTICAL METHOD FOR ESTIMATION OF THE QUALITY FACTOR IN HIGH RESOLUTION SEISMICS Summary 1 Industrial techniques for determination of the quality factor are well known. In highresolution seismics however no efficient method has been developed so far. In this paper we review some of the methods that exist for the low-resolution domain and apply them to the domain of high-resolution seismics. One method spectral ratio is discussed in more detail. Introduction The quality factor Q of a medium is a measure for the amount of absorption taking place when a seismic signal propagates trough that medium causing an
