P016 WELL LOG INTERPRETATION IN THE MIOCENE FORMATION IN THE CARPATHIAN FOREDEEP WITH STATISTICAL METHODS Summary 1 An accurate prediction of the location of sandstones and shales using wireline logs in the Miocene sediments in the Carpathian Foredeep is not a simple problem due to the thin interbedded sandy-shale sequences. For the geological interpretation of log data in the single well – J4 in the Sarmatian sediments there were used multivariate statistical techniques such as Principal Component Analysis (PCA) Discriminant Analysis (DA) on the raw log data and on the principal components. The results i.e. changes of the lithology with
