Abstract
P055 MONITORING ABNORMAL PORE PRESSURES IN LOW PERMEABILITY ARGILLITE USING WIRELESS TRANSMISSION GAUGES Introduction 1 ANDRA the French National Radioactive Waste Management Agency is studying the feasibility of radioactive waste disposal in a very low permeability formation the Callovo-Oxfordian argillite a clay-rich sedimentary rock. The evaluation program includes the construction of an underground research laboratory (URL) about 300 kilometres east of Paris. The Callovo-Oxfordian argillite is a 130-m thick clay-rich stratum lying at a depth between 420 and 560 meters at the site. The argillite is part of a sedimentary sequence dominated by Jurassic-age carbonate rocks with some argillites and
