Abstract

P065 IMAGING AND STACKING WIDE-ANGLE Summary We have developed a new method to image sub-surface structure from long offset wide-angle seismic data. The method is based on first transforming the data to the τ-p domain and carrying out all processing there. In the τ-p domain refractions and turning ray arrivals map along a high amplitude envelope at large slownesses whereas wide-angle reflections map to intermediate slownesses. This envelope of turning rays and refracted arrivals may be used to obtain the background velocity model (or it may be obtained independently) which is then used to migrate the data vertically into the
