Abstract

P168 PREDICTION OF DIFFERENTIAL STRESSES BASED ON SEISMIC ATTRIBUTES Summary 1 A new quantitative and computationally efficient method for remote prediction of overpressure is proposed. The method utilizes relationships between various seismic attributes and differential pressure which were established through extensive laboratory tests. The effects of different stress conditions on transmitted ultrasonic pulses are investigated through changes of instantaneous waveform attributes. A positive relationship between differential pressure and several instantaneous seismic attributes has been established for the first time in these experiments. The results of the tests prove that well-known empirical relationships between differential pressure and seismic velocity are also
