Abstract

P172 ATTENUATION OF INTERFERENCE NOISE ON MARINE SEISMIC DATA Abstract 1 Interference noise is often an issue where seismic acquisition operations are going on in heavily trafficked seaways or around large obstructions. With the emphasis of seismic acquisition now often production related (e.g. 4-D) rather than exploration related; the presence of obstructions and traffic is an increasing problem. The interference noise can manifest itself as a burst type noise or as a continuous noise train. In this paper we describe the two most common types of noise that are seen and propose a simple but effective way of removing them.
