SHAPIRO Institut für Geologische Wissenschaften Fachbereich Geophysik Freie Universität Berlin Malteser Strasse 74-100 12249 Berlin Germany Summary Stress dependencies of elastic moduli and velocities for anisotropic rocks and electrical resistivity are theoretically derived as functions of pore space deformation due to an applied arbitrary load. We show that porosity changes are a funtion of the difference between confining stress/pressure and pore pressure alone if the rock is in the Gassmann limit. All derived stress dependencies have the form of an exponential equation V (P
