Abstract
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) data may show strong noise events due to surface scattering by obstacles such as trees and boulders. The surface scattering can be very strong due to low attenuation in the air. A procedure is developed for identification and removal of these events. It is based on the fact that the velocity of radar waves in the air is .3 mlns, but the velocity in the earth is much lower, approximately .1 mlns.
