Abstract

Ray tracing, travel time and vectorial amplitude computations can be performed for very general anisotropic, laterally varying, 3-D layered and block structures. The computations are, however, considerably more cumbersome and time consuming than for isotropic models. The concept of the factorized anisotropic inhomogeneous (FAI) media simplifies drastically such ray computations.
