Abstract
The onset of the phase transition in the VLF signals is known to indicate the onset of the electron production (sunrise) in the ionospheric D-layer. On the other hand, the atmospheric ozone layer absorbes the solar u.v. radiation which is the most important ionization source in the formation of the D-layer.
