Abstract
The sedimentary basins on the Argentina Coninental Margin, resulted from the post Hercinian Orogeny. Several evolutionary stages have taken place in the pre-Mesozoic basement, and the accretion of the southwestern margin of Gondwanaland, since Middle Paleozoic to Middle Jurassic. Those basins were inserted on previous tectonic trends, passing through early rift, rift and sag stages. Most of the basins started as intracratonic basins due to cortical attenuation, with extensional tectonics.
