Abstract

The elastic and electromagnetic wave fields arising in fluid-saturated porous media are studied both theoretically and experimentally with the viewPoint of geophysioal exploration. The results show that the main oharacteristio features of the fields are oaused by a respective fluid motion in pores. This motion is shown to be of a oonsiderable magnitude and influenoe on wave spectra. An eleotromagnetic !ield of significant magnitude is revealed in passing oompressional elastic waves through porous samples. The results obtained enable to develop new advanced techniques to explore and oontrol the reoovery of oil and gas.
