O Programa Distritos Mineiros da DIGEO/DNPM foi criado em 1991 visando integrar informaçőes e realizar estudos de detalhe de última geraçăo, capazes de definir os controles dos depósitos minerais dos mais importantes ambientes metalogenéticos do País, e assim contribuir para a descoberta de novos depósitos minerais.
