Abstract

This paper deals briefly with the acquisition and processing, but in particular, and for the first time a true 3D land seismics survey for Gold Mine planning in South Africa. Before the development of the modern seismics equipment and acquisition methods, mine planning on gold Mines was dependent on interpretation from borehole data. Adding 20 and later 3D seismics information has progressively improved the understanding of the geological structure and confidence in the ore-reserve estimations. The results of the interpretation and some improvements is discussed.
