Abstract

Applying the Apatite Fission-Track Analysis (AFTA) for a sample from Caraiba Mine, Bahia, Brazil, we observed that spontaneous tracks histogram fits very well with a theoretical histogram constructed using the AFTA, where it was supposed tha tthe following thermal history occurred in that region since 250 Ma ago up to the present: a rapid (± 15 Ma) cooling that took place in the lower Triassic, when the temperature decreased from ± 25 oC to ± 50 oC, followed by a slow cooling from the Jurassic up to now.
