Abstract
Surface NMR measurements were performed to detect and characterize water content in the vadose (unsaturated) zone at field sites in the western US States of Washington, Arizona, Nebraska and Kansas. The surface NMR measurements were performed using two surface NMR tools, one standard commercial NMR tool with maximum power output of 4000V/600A and a 4ms dead time, and a newly modified version of the tool with an increased power output of 7500V/600A and minimum dead time of less than 3ms.
