Remaining Oil Accumulations In Northern Marañon Basin. A Complex History Entrapment Of Oils

To the north east of block 1AB, there is a large portion of the basin that has remained relatively unexplored due to negative outcomes of the first exploration wells drilled in the area. However, recent exploration activity (late 90´s) resulted in three small discoveries that have brought light to this remote part of the basin demystifying the previous negative perceptions above this area. The present study intends to reveal the significance of the complex distribution of oils encountered in the area, and supports the possibility of mid-light oil accumulations at the northeast of block 1AB.
