Abstract

Regularization and Interpolation in higher dimensions has become an important tool in the processing arsenal of any geophysicist. The reasons for interpolation and regularization of data are many. Some noise elimination techniques work better on regular data sets and some even demand it. Also imaging algorithms, whether it is Prestack Time or Prestack Depth migrations produce better results if the data has been regularized a priori, than during the migration, putting less demand on the migration weights, which are, in general still poorly understood.
