Abstract

A variety of workflows using geophysical measurements for Reservoir Characterization, Simulation, and Recovery Monitoring to date have provided only rough results. It is the lack of better linkages between the attributes and data obtained from macro scale geophysics with flow and deformation on the pore scale that has hampered the progress needed to move to the next level of accuracy, resolution and predictability that is obviously needed given the unacceptable low recovery factor, understanding well bore damage, and the difficulty in understanding and managing such rock types as carbonates with micro porosity or oil and gas shales.
