Abstract

Extensional Fault-bend folding models help to decipher the structural and depositional histories of rift basins. The method has not been used at the Barcelona basin before despite having suitable information. Over 520 km of seismic lines were interpreted and an average velocity model was created in order to understand structures on depth. Dip domain, axial surfaces and accommodation space analysis was performed in order to understand the kinematic and geometry of the Barcelona Fault and its relationship with affecting factors such as fault shape, fault displacement, depositional – erosion patterns.
