Abstract

Up-to-date geospatial information is a prerequisite for a modern resource management taking potential environmental pressures, social issues associated with mining and existing mining-related changes ofthe environment into account. Based on environmental and societal indicators on different scales (local to regional), developed in close cooperation with stakeholder input on the different test sites, appropriate Earth Observation techniques, and in particular Remote Sensing techniques, have been developed. These indicators form the basis for product developments that respond to the stakeholders needs.
