E&P of unconventional oil and gas becoming wider and wider, reserves classification and evaluation methods of unconventional oil and gas resources are discussed and improved further, which has become the focus of related international conferences in recent years. In China, based on the requirement of CBM development, relevant rules of reserves classification or calculation have been formulated at enterprise and industry levels in recent years. But in general, these rules are just the continuation of traditional reserves classification system which mainly focuses on the OGIP classification and evaluation, and considers less on unconventional oil and gas characteristics (such as geological features, particularity of developing techniques and marginal economy, etc). Furthermore, conflicts between reserves and mining right management are becoming prominentgradually, which affects the E&P of unconventional oil and gas in China to some extent.
