Classification of advantages provided by prestack depth migration in Precaspian Basin

General review of advantages provided by prestack depth migration (PSDM) application for seismic data processing in the vicinity of a salt dome allows stating that it improves two key features of an image, namely<br>• continuity of events, and<br>• focusing of reflection/diffraction energy in zones of events’ breaks.<br>In the Precaspian Basin, one of the world’s largest salt dome depressions, the indicated advantages appear in various pre- and postsalt situations.<br>The purpose of this paper is to classify the advantages and to present support images.
