Abstract
The shallow-marine Eocene deposits are widely distributed in central Anatolia between Çankırı and Çorum in the north and Kırşehir and Nevşehir in the south. In most cases, these shallow-marine packages are represented by ‘accumulation’ which, may compose hydrocarbon reservoirs (e,g in Libya and Tunisian Oils in Mediterranean region). Such deposits in Turkey have not been investigated for this purpose yet. In the present study, we present a time-framework for the development of larger foraminiferal deposits in Eocene, which may represents the ‘accumulations’ in some cases. Thus, 4 main stages of development have been identified. These are; a- Early Ypresian development, b-Upper Ypresian development, c-Early to Middle Lutetian development and d-upper Lutetian/lower Bartonian development. The marine late Bartonian and Priabonian shallow-marine deposits have not been identified in central Anatolia.
