B-10 PRE-STACK TIME MIGRATION FOR ROUGH AND RUGGED MOUNTAIN AREAS Summary 1 Seismic imaging algorithms commonly used in production like NMO DMO pre-stack and post-stack migration are only applied to data that have been datumed to a planar surface. This is because conventional seismic imaging algorithms have an assumption that the shot and receiver of a seismic trace are located at the same elevation. This assumption is restrictive and cannot be satisfied in mountain areas with rough and rugged topography.
