D-38 TEST OF AIRBORNE GEOPHYSICS FOR MAPPING OIL SHALE MINING AREA IN KOHTLA-JÄRVE NE ESTONIA Abstract 1 This paper discusses the use of airborne geophysics for mapping environmental land-use and hydrogeological and geological issues at the Kohtla-Järve oil shale mining area in NE Estonia. This area has over 80 years history of mining and oil shale industry during which more than 900 Mtn of oil shale has been extracted from 19 open-casts and mines.
