P238 A NEW TECHNIQUE FOR IMPROVING SOURCE LOCATIONS OF MICROSEISMIC EVENTS AND RELATIVE TOOL ORIENTATIONS. Summary 1 The first step in the interpretation of microseismic events is to accurately estimate source locations. The obtained accuracy directly affects any consecutive analyses such as S-wave splitting CMT solutions and attenuation measurements. We present a data-windowing method to re-interpret source back-azimuths from P-wave hodograms which results in source locations of superior quality. The resulting azimuths can also be used to identify relative errors in the orientation of the geophone tools.
